Suncorp Standard Credit Card

With an annual fee of $39 the Suncorp Standard credit card starts out looking pretty good, but how does it fare with the rest of its features?

Well, if you have a tendency to need cash from your credit card every now and then, then the Suncorp Standard credit card is a pretty handy option to have, with an  interest rate of 17.99% p.a. on cash advances.

Most banks try to discourage this kind of behavior on a credit card by hiking up the cash advance rate, however Suncorp has chosen not to. Just be warned, it’s not quite a low enough rate for it to become an affordable regularity

Balance transfers on this credit card have a long honeymoon period of 12 months at just 1.90% p.a., after which it reverts to the cash advance rate of 17.99% p.a. which is still relatively low for a default balance transfer rate.

This is at the expense of interest free days, but it’s still our top pick for balance transfers despite this fact, as it will allow you to save a lot of money in comparison to any other card. You will just need to be very careful about purchases as you will incur interest charges as soon as you buy.

Purchases on this credit card incur an even lower interest rate with 12.24% p.a., which is fairly average considering there are no interest free days to fall back on if you can’t make your bill payments each month.

This means that this card is potentially more hassle than it is worth when there are other cheaper cards out there. However if a low balance transfer rate is what you’re after, then this is a good credit card option to suit your needs. However it could be a good idea to get a different low interest credit card if you need to make a lot of purchases.
